"Orgullosamente", 2025
Acrylic on canvas
24 x 36
"Orgullosamente" is a love letter to my roots, my family and the immigrant experience that shaped me. As the daughter of Mexican immigrants, I've lived in the in-between, raised on the traditions, language, and spirit of one country while building life in another. This painting is a reflection of that duality. A tribute to the immigrant experience, to those who carry two homes in their heart. Draped in the intertwined flags of the United States and Mexico, the she rests confidently, baring both vulnerability and strength. Marigolds, monarch butterflies, and the sunflower all symbols of migration, remembrance and resilience surround her. The faint image of La Virgen de Guadalupe blesses the scene with spiritual grace, protection and faith. This piece honors the beauty of living between cultures, carrying roots and wings, and standing proudly in all that you are.
This piece is for every first-generation soul who has ever felt torn, proud, grateful and unshakably rooted. It is painted "orgullosamente".
